Takagi Sake Brewery was founded in 1615 (the first year of the Genwa era), and is a long-established brewery with over 400 years of history. The brewery is located in Murayama City, Yamagata Prefecture, which is famous for its Sato Nishiki cherries, and is blessed with delicious water, which I think is reflected in the deliciousness of the sake "Juyondai." Before they began brewing " Juyondai, " their main brand was " Asahi Taka, " which was a popular sake in their local Yamagata prefecture. However, after they established the "Juyondai" brand, it is said that they suddenly became well-known nationwide. ◆The origin of the name Juyondai Takagi Sake Brewery's brand name "Juyondai" was created in 1963 (Showa 38) when Takagi Tatsugoro, the 14th generation owner at the time, applied to have "Juusandai," "Juyondai," "Jugodai," "Juurokudai," etc., registered as trademarks. Although numbers cannot be registered as trademarks under the rules, perhaps it was mistaken for a person's name, and miraculously only "Juyondai" passed muster. It is said that "Juyondai" was originally a brand used only for aged sake, and Takagi Tatsugoro, the 14th generation owner, is also known for developing "Ryu no Otoshiko," a rice variety suitable for sake brewing that is not available to anyone outside of Takagi Sake Brewery.
